Change in Time of Meeting
Invalidates Corporate Action
Court says church pastor was not reappointed
when annual meeting time was moved several hours
When the pastor of a church in Ohio announced before the morning service that the time of the annual meeting was being moved from immediately after the service until after the pot-luck dinner after the service, the action to reappoint the pastor and elders at the later meeting was invalid, a Court of Appeals in Ohio has held. The church’s request for a judgment declaring the pastor and elders as the only lawful governing body was properly dismissed. (Mt. Eaton Community Church v. Ladrach, Ct. of App., OH, C.A. No. 07CA0092, 1/12/09.)
