Two officers of a municipal firefighters union, whose jobs were threatened by municipal officials after the city received complaints of harassing calls to solicit contributions to the union’s programs, have been permitted to proceed with a suit against the city for improper retaliation. A federal District Court in Tennessee has held that a jury must decide whether the adverse employment action constituted retaliation against a protected activity and therefore violated the constitution.
